Christmas at St Andrew’s 2025.

A service of 6 readings & Carols to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus

Bells before, during….and after.

A SERVICE OF 6 READINGS AND CAROLS.

SUNDAY 21ST DECEMBER 2025 AT 3PM.

Bells before, during….and after.
Celebrate with us as we come together to hear the Christmas story, sing a few Carols, be entertained by ‘The Music Makers’, and partake of light refreshments.
The ‘Music Makers’ handbell ringers will be entertaining us part way through the service with some festive tunes played on the handbells. One of the tunes will actually be played on the church’s very own set of bells. This will be very special as they have not been played in quite a number of years.

While refreshments are being served you are invited to ‘have a go’. You never know, this may be something you have always had a yearning to do – maybe something on the ‘bucket list’ – now is the time to try.

£153,000 Grant Secured!

St Andrew’s Church, Halton Holegate Secures National Lottery support

St Andrew’s parish church, Halton Holegate Lincolnshire, has received a grant of £153,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for an exciting heritage project, repairs and heritage community projects.  Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on repairs to the roofs of the building and community projects researching aspects of church history, resulting in interpretative media. A start date of March 2020 is eagerly awaited.

Supported through The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will allow volunteers to access training, educational courses and workshops, and learning new skills along the way. Working as part of a team they will research, document and record many aspects of the historic church building, both architecturally, and also it’s human side. Oral histories from people in the parish will be documented, the names of soldiers on the war memorial will be ‘brought to life’, with their own personal stories and memories of relatives still living in the parish. In conjunction with local schoolchildren they will compile a ‘Young person’s guide to the church’.

Lifeline Grant from Government’s Culture Recovery Fund

Saint Andrew’s Church in Halton Holegate has received a financial boost from the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help fund repairs during the coronavirus pandemic. Lifeline grants from the Culture Recovery Fund are designed to protect heritage sites and ensure that jobs and access to culture and heritage in local communities are protected during the months ahead.

St Andrew’s has been awarded £25,000 for essential construction work which will stop water seeping through the organ loft roof and causing damage to, not only the fabric of the building, but also to the historic organ beneath

The grant comes at a crucial point because, if left much longer damage to the much-loved church would have caused further damage and subsequential increased repair costs.
